BRIGADIER GENERAL WILLIAM L. SEEKINS

 

Commander, Land Component Command, North Dakota National Guard

Brigadier General William L. Seekins assumed the duties of the Commander, Land Component Command, North Dakota National Guard on 29 March 2010. He is responsible to the Adjutant General to provide Army National Guard forces that are ready to deploy in support of national defense, homeland defense, or military support to civil authority. General Seekins also serves as the Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard-United States Army Maneuver Support Center, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

General Seekins received his commission in 1979 from the North Dakota Army National Guard Officer Candidate School. He has served in numerous capacities as platoon leader, company executive officer, detachment and company commander, as well as various battalion staff positions with the 141st Engineer Combat Battalion and the 142nd Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy). In 1999, he assumed command of the 164th Engineer Combat Battalion (Mechanized) before becoming the Commander of the Camp Grafton Training Center near Devils Lake, North Dakota. In 2004, General Seekins was assigned as Commander, 34th Infantry Division, Engineer Brigade, a position he held until 2006. Subsequently, he was assigned as the Commander, 164th Regional Training Institute at Camp Grafton until November 2008 when he assumed duties as the Assistant Adjutant General - Army.
