MAJOR GENERAL JAMES G. BLANEY

Major General James Blaney assumed duties as The Adjutant General, Madison, Wisconsin on August 21, 1997. As The Adjutant General, he acts as primary advisor to the Governor and on all matters pertaining to the Wisconsin National Guard. Major General Blaney acts as the Commander for the Wisconsin National Guard.

The General's active military service began in 1960 as a enlisted soldier. Called to Federal service in 1961 with the 32d Infantry Division. He was commissioned an Armor officer following the completion of State Officer Candidate School on July 7, 1963 and changed branch to Infantry in 1971. Prior to his present assignment, Major General Blaney served as Deputy Adjutant General-Army, Commander, 32d Separate Infantry Brigade, Troop Command Commander, Commandant, Wisconsin Military Academy and as a Battalion Commander along with numerous other staff positions.
