Assistant to the Deputy Commander, United States Strategic Command
Major General David C. Petersen is Mobilization Assistant to the Deputy Commander, United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
General Petersen was drafted into the United States Army in June 1972 as an engineer. He served three and a half years on active duty and went directly into the Nebraska Army National Guard in March of 1976. General Petersen attended the Nebraska National Guard State Officer Candidate School in 1978. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May of 1979. His assignments included the following: Company Commander, Training Site Commander, Director of Maintenance, Director of Facilities, Deputy Chief of Staff Plans and Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Joint Staff - Nebraska, and Commander for the 67th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade. General Petersen's deployed assignments included the Senior Liaison Officer for Combined Forces Command Afghanistan to Central Command's Joint Intelligence Operations Center and the Senior Regional Police Advisor - East. He was an advisor to an Afghan Police Major General in Gardez, Afghanistan.
