BRIGADIER GENERAL FRANK J. SULLIVAN

 

Director, Joint Staff, Pennsylvania Joint Force Headquarters

Brigadier General Frank J. Sullivan is Director, Joint Staff, Pennsylvania Joint Force Headquarters. As Director, he is responsible for managing programs and operations for the 100 plus member Joint Staff and overseeing issues that impact the 19,000 member Pennsylvania National Guard.

General Sullivan joined the Pennsylvania Air National Guard upon his commissioning from the Academy of Military Science in 1982. His first 18 years in the Air National Guard were as a Traditional Guardsman. During those years, he worked as an Engineer at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, New York and as the Facility Engineer at New Cumberland Army Depot and Defense Logistics Agency, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. During this time, General Sullivan had numerous deployments to Central and South America. He assisted in the design and construction of roads, schools and military facilities for operations such as FUENTOS CAMINOS in Honduras, and also operations in Haiti and Ecuador. In 1999, General Sullivan was assigned the first Inspector General for the 193rd Special Operations Wing. In 2001, he was assigned Commander, 201st Red Horse Squadron. That same year he was mobilized and deployed as Commander, Joint Task Force for Operation BLUE MOUNTAIN, Kingston, Jamaica and then mobilized as Commander of the 400 person Red Horse Squadron for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, with airmen deployed in six countries including Qatar, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, United Arab Emerites and Bahrain. General Sullivan served for eight months constructing air bases, runways, infrastructure installation, telecommunication facilities and other wartime tasks. Upon his return he became a full time technician with the Red Horse Squadron. In 2004, General Sullivan was assigned Commander, 193rd Mission Support Group for the 193rd Special Operations Wing. In 2005, he was mobilized and served a one year tour in Iraq. General Sullivan served as Commander, 732nd Air Expeditionary Group, with over 1800 airmen assigned to Army and Marine Corps Missions, and also as Commander, 557th Red Horse, Mosul, Iraq assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. In 2007, General Sullivan was assigned Director, Joint Staff, Pennsylvania Joint Force Headquarters.
