BRIGADIER GENERAL PETER C. HINZ

 

Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Maryland National Guard

Brigadier General Peter C. Hinz assumed the duties of the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Maryland National Guard on June 11, 2010. As the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, General Hinz commands all Maryland Army National Guard units, serves as principle assistant to the Adjutant General and provides policy guidance, oversight and supervision of all training, logistics and personnel matters for all Maryland Army National Guard organizations.

General Hinz was commissioned in 1979 through the Maryland Army National Guard Officer Candidate School. Prior to receiving his commission, General Hinz served on active duty in the United States Army which included assignment to the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, as a Courier Specialist for the Armed Forces Courier Service and in the Maryland Army National Guard as an enlisted member of the 121st Engineer Battalion. He has held primary staff positions in various units and has commanded at the platoon, company, battalion, and brigade levels. He also served as Director of Facilities for the Maryland Army National Guard. Before being assigned as Assistant Adjutant General, General Hinz served as the Assistant Division Commander - (Support), 29th Infantry Division.
