The Adjutant General, Puerto Rico National Guard
Brigadier General David Carrión Baralt assumed duties as Adjutant General, Puerto Rico National Guard, San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 1, 2007. As The Adjutant General, he is the Governor's senior military advisor and oversees both state and federal missions of the Puerto Rico National Guard. He provides effective leadership and management in the implementation of all programs and policies affecting more than 10,000 citizen-soldiers and airmen and three components of the Puerto Rico National Guard: Army National Guard, Air National Guard and State Guard.
General Carrion was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer Training Corp program in 1979 at the University of Puerto Rico. He has occupied positions of increased responsibility to include Personnel Officer; Executive Officer of the Headquarters State Area Command Detachment; and Commander of the Headquarters State Area Command Detachment and Recruitment and Retention Officer. He is admitted to the practice of law by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
