BRIGADIER GENERAL JON F. FAGO

Brigadier General Jon F. Fago is the Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Nebraska National Guard. In this capacity he serves as the principal advisor to the Adjutant General on complex and sensitive issues in the areas of logistics, command and control, communications, manpower and personnel, strength management, and other support functions related to mission operations. He assists the Adjutant General in ensuring Nebraska National Guard units are provided with adequate guidance, manpower, resources and facilities to support both federal and state missions.

General Fago began his career with an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. General Fago graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1979 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. General Fago attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Reese Air Force Base, Texas, and completed initial KC-135A training at Castle Air Force Base, California. General Fago was assigned to the 28th Air Refueling Squadron, 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. In 1985, General Fago was board selected as one of the first crewmembers for the KC-10 program. He was assigned as a KC-10 aircraft commander to the 32nd Air Refueling Squadron, 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. In 1988, General Fago separated from active duty and joined Air Force Reserves in the 78th Air Refueling Squadron, 142nd Air Refueling Group at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. In 1994, General Fago joined the Nebraska Air National Guard as a KC-135R pilot. In July of 1996, he assumed duties as the Chief of Training in the 155th Operations Support Flight. As the Operations Officer and acting Squadron Commander, he was instrumental in the Pacer Compass Radar And Global Positioning conversion and directing increased operations following 9/11. In May 2001, General Fago assumed command of the 173rd Air Refueling Squadron. During his command the unit continued operations in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle, and participated in flying operations supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. In January 2004, General Fago assumed command of the 155th Operations Group and deployed to both the Pacific Theater and the European Theater in support of the Global War on Terrorism. In 2005, General Fago served as Vice Wing Commander of the 155th Air Refueling Wing contributing to the Air Force Global Reach mission by supporting United States and allied military forces world-wide with aerial refueling and transportation of passengers and cargo. In June 2008, General Fago deployed to the Combined Air Operations Center in the Central Command Area of Responsibility as the Deputy Director of Mobility Forces in direct support of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa.
