MAJOR GENERAL BURTON K. FRANCISCO

 

Special Assistant to the Combatant Commander, NORAD/NORTHCOM for National Guard Matters and Liaison to the Chief, National Guard Bureau

Major General Burton K. Francisco is the Special Assistant to the Combatant Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command/United States Northern Command for National Guard Matters and Liaison to the Chief, National Guard Bureau, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. In this position, he serves as principle advisor to the combatant commander on matters concerning homeland defense, civil support and aerospace defense under the operational range of interest of the Army and Air National Guard.

General Francisco was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 27 May 1983 through the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Prior to receiving his commission, General Francisco served as an enlisted member in the Michigan Army National Guard from April 1978 through May 1983.

Prior to his duty at NORAD and USNORTHCOM, General Francisco was the Commander, 46th Military Police Command, Michigan Army National Guard. In this position he directed all activities in the Command, facilitated strategic objectives and policies to ensure effective and efficient accomplishment of the Command's missions. He enhanced the development of the Command into a cohesive, effective, combat ready unit, capable of being deployed on short notice. From 2013 through 2015 the Command was assigned Mission Command of the Chemical Biological Radioactive and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Element-B (C2CRE-B) and assigned to US Army North (ARNORTH) to provide command and control of Title-10 response forces in a CBRN complex catastrophe.
