BRIGADIER GENERAL JEFFREY R. JOHNSON

 

Commander, 113th Wing

Brigadier General Jeffrey R. Johnson is the Commander, 113th Wing, District of Columbia Air National Guard, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. He is responsible for over 1200 personnel in support of F-16, C-38 and C-40 missions. The 113th Wing provides command, control, and oversight of two flying units, an air sovereignty detachment, and several supporting units. It consists of the 113th Operations Group, operating the F-16C aircraft and the Air Sovereignty Detachment responsible for the air defense of the Nation's Capital Region, the 201st Airlift Squadron operating C-40 and C-38 aircraft, as well as the 113th Maintenance Group, the 113th Mission Support Group and 113th Medical Group. Under General Johnson's command, the 113th Wing was awarded the 2009 Spaatz Trophy as the best flying unit in the Air National Guard, the 2010 First Air Force Meritorious Service Award, the 2011 Distinguished Flying Unit Plaque and an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

General Johnson was commissioned in 1984 through the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science. Prior to receiving his commission, General Johnson served as an enlisted aircraft armament specialist. He has served in the District of Columbia Air National Guard continuously since that time in a number of command and staff assignments. General Johnson was the J3, Chief of the Master Air Attack Planning Cell for Operation Enduring Freedom under the command of United States Central Command at Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from December 2001 to March 2002. He is a Fighter Weapons Instructor Course graduate in the F-16 and has over 3,000 hours of flying time in a wide variety of roles and missions.
