BRIGADIER GENERAL CRAIG W. BLANKENSTEIN

 

Chief of Staff, Washington Air National Guard

Brigadier General Craig W. Blankenstein is the Chief of Staff also serving as Vice Commander for the Washington Air National Guard. In this position, he reports to the Assistant Adjutant General for Air on matters of readiness and strategic planning for all Washington Air National Guard units.

General Blankenstein received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1977. His operational experience includes Squadron Logistics Officer, Squadron Training Officer, Squadron Director of Operations, Squadron Commander and Operations Group Commander. After the events of 9-11 he volunteered to serve as special assistant to the Commander of the Western Air Defense Sector. He is a senior pilot with over 1,500 hours in T-37, T-38 and KC-135 aircraft.
