General Officer Biography

BRIGADIER GENERAL RICHARD S. MILLER

 

Assistant Division Commander - T, 38th Infantry Division, Indiana Army National Guard

Brigadier General Richard S. Miller serves as the Assistant Division Commander-T for the 38th Infantry Division, Indiana National Guard. He received his commission in 1982 from the Indiana Military Academy OCS program. He has served as an Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader, Infantry Company Commander and a Combat Support Company Commander. His Battalion Staff Positions included Battalion S-1, Battalion S-2, Battalion S-3, Battalion Executive Officer and Infantry Battalion Commander. He also served as a Brigade Communications Officer. Subsequent assignments as a member of the Joint Force Headquarters Indiana included Readiness Officer, Mobilization Assistant Team Chief, and Branch Chief. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 and served as Commander of RC South located in Kandahar, Afghanistan for Task Force Phoenix III. He was the senior advisor and commanded all Embedded Tactical Trainers in Southern Afghanistan. He also served as the Senior Advisor for the 205th Corps Commander of the Afghan National Army. He served in Afghanistan from August 2004 until mission completion in August of 2005. He was assigned as the State Selective Service Officer upon his return from deployment and was assigned as the ADC-T for the 38th Infantry Division in July of 2006.
