Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Washington National Guard
Major General Gary T. Magonigle is Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Washington National Guard. He also serves as Commander, Washington Air National Guard. General Magonigle is responsible to the Adjutant General for directing, coordinating and controlling activities of 37 assigned units and the 2,200 authorized Air National Guard personnel assigned to those units. General Magonigle is responsible to prepare, implement and administer plans, policies and programs to effectively organize, staff, equip and train units for state and federal mobilization. General Magonigle also serves as a board member of the National Guard Joint Diversity Executive Council.
General Magonigle received his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp in 1976 and began his active duty career in 1977. His operational experience includes positions held as Chief of Standardization/Evaluation, Flying Squadron Operations Officer and Chief of Wing Plans and Programs and Operations Group Commander. He voluntarily deployed for Desert Shield and Desert Storm and was stationed at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He also deployed to Budapest, Hungary and served as Operations Group Deputy Commander in support of Operation Allied Force. The general assumed his current position in February 2007. He is a command pilot with over 4,500 hours in the T-33, F-101, F-106, KC-135A/E, C-12J and C-26.
