Brigadier General Lawrence E. Dudney, Jr. is Commander, Land Component Command, Georgia Army National Guard. He is responsible for the leadership, planning, and synchronization of Homeland Security Operations for the state of Georgia working closely with both military and civilian agencies.
Brigadier General Dudney enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard in June
1977 and was commissioned in September 1978. A graduate of Georgia Southern
College, he received a commission in Field Artillery from The Officers Candidate
School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Brigadier General Dudney has served as a
Strategic Planner for the Director of the Army National Guard and the Army
Quadrennial Defense Review Office at the Pentagon as well as the Senior Army
Guard Advisor for United States Forces Korea and Eighth United States Army.
Additionally, he has served as the Commander for both the 78th Troop Command and
the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Before assuming his current position, he
served as Commander, Joint Task Force Phoenix and as Director, Afghan National
Security Forces Development Assistance Bureau while deployed to Afghanistan.
