BRIGADIER GENERAL MICHAEL J. DORNBUSH

 

Director, Joint Staff, Kentucky Joint Force Headquarters

Brigadier General Michael J. Dornbush was Director, Joint Staff, Kentucky Joint Force Headquarters. He was responsible to The Adjutant General for the coordination of policy, guidance and direction of the Commonwealth's over 8,500 Army and Air Guardsmen. He was also dual hatted as (A-6), Assistant to the Director, Air National Guard on matters pertaining to Communications and Information Operations. In this capacity, he worked directly with the Chief Information Officer of NGB/A6. This directorate supports over 7,800 Air National Guard personnel operations in the Air National Guard conducting command and control, engineering and installation, combat communications and cyber warfare/information operations.

General Dornbush began his military career by enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1972. He was commissioned in 1984 upon completion or the Air National Guard's Academy of Military Science. He commanded at the flight, squadron and vice wing commander levels, and served as Director of Staff to three State Adjutant Generals. General Dornbush is a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, having served a tour in 2003 as the deployed Expeditionary Commander of the 438th Air Expeditionary Group. Prior to assuming this position, he served four years on the Director; Air National Guard's Strategic Planning System General Officer Steering Committee and served as Chairman for the Atlantic-Southeast region.
