MAJOR GENERAL PHILLIP E. OATES

 

Major General Phillip E. Oates, is the Adjutant General for the State of Alaska and Commissioner of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. He is responsible to provide ready, relevant, quality military and disaster relief forces to meet the needs of the people of Alaska. Major General Oates is also responsible to provide ready, relevant, military forces for worldwide deployment in support of the nations defense interest.

Major General Oates, was commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army from Infantry Officer Candidate School in February 1970. He served in numerous worldwide assignments culminating his active Army career as the Chief of Staff for the Alaskan Command at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Major General Oates graduated from the U.S. Army War College in 1991. He was appointed as the Adjutant General on February 1, 1999.
