BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID M. HOOPER

 

Brigadier General David M. Hooper is the Assistant Adjutant General for Air and also serves as the Commander of the Utah Air National Guard. He is responsible for the command, control and operations of plans and programs of over 1500 Utah Air National Guard personnel located at Salt Lake City and at Hill Air Force Base. He is responsible to the Adjutant General for the combat and operational readiness of the Utah Air National Guard and the ability of the 151st Air Refueling Wing and five Geographically Separated Units to perform their federal and state mission.

General Hooper began his career as a T-37 Instructor Pilot in the 37th Flying Training Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. He then served as an Aircraft Commander flying C-130s in the 774th Tactical Airlift Squadron, Dyess AFB, TX. In 1987, General Hooper left the active duty force to continue flying C-130 aircraft for the Air National Guard in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Soon after, General Hooper came to Utah and transitioned to flying the KC-135 for the Utah Air National Guard in Salt Lake City, Utah.

General Hooper's career in the Utah Air National Guard included service as the 191st Air Refueling Squadron Commander, 151st Operations Group Commander, Director of Operations, Headquarters, Utah Air National Guard and finally as the Assistant Adjutant General For Air, Utah Air National Guard . He has also flown and participated in several military operations including: Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Allied Force, Deny Flight, Deliberate Guard, Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
