BRIGADIER GENERAL EUGENE A. STOCKTON

Assistant Adjutant General for Army, Virginia Army National Guard

Brigadier General Eugene A. Stockton is the Assistant Adjutant General for Army, Joint Force Headquarters. Ft Pickett, Virginia. General Stockton serves as the principal assistant to the Adjutant General and provides policy guidance in the areas of personnel management, command logistics, facilities, and maintenance for the Virginia Army National Guard. He provides general oversight and supervision of the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT), 183rd Regiment (Regional Training Institute), 91st Troop Command, 329th Regional Support Group (RSG) and the Maneuver Training Center.

General Stockton began his military career in 1968 as a recruit at the United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. In 1969 he was assigned to 1st Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam. In 1974 he was a member of 3rd Marine Division and assisted with the evacuation of South Vietnam. General Stockton was discharged from the Marines in 1975 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

General Stockton joined the Virginia Army National Guard in 1977. In 1980 he completed Officer Candidate School and graduated from the Armor Officer Basic Course at Ft. Knox Kentucky. General Stockton has served in various command and staff positions at all levels in the Virginia Army National Guard. In 2000 General Stockton served at the 183rd Regiment (RTI) as the 4th Battalion Commander and Executive Officer for the Regiment. In 2002 General Stockton assumed command of the Regiment, until he was appointed to his current position as Assistant Adjutant General for Army in November 2005.
