BRIGADIER GENERAL JEFFERY E. MARSHALL

 

Deputy Director Plans and Policy, J5, US European Command and Executive Liaison to the State Partnership Program

Brigadier General Jeffery E. Marshall currently serves as the Deputy Director Plans and Policy, J5, US European Command, as well as the command's liaison to the State Partnership Program.

After graduating from the United States Military Academy in 1981, he began his military career as a rifle platoon leader in the 82nd Airborne Division. While in the division, he was also a mortar platoon leader, support platoon leader and a company executive officer. After leaving, Ft Bragg, BG Marshall attended the Infantry Officers' Advanced Course and then was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division. While assigned to Ft Drum, BG Marshall was the division's unit training officer and comptroller.

He left active duty in 1986 and immediately joined the Maryland Army National Guard. He commanded an infantry company and was the battalion operations officer for the 1-175 IN. From there, he became the Operations Officer for the 3rd brigade, 29th Infantry Division (Light). He was then assigned as the S2/3 for the 29th Division Support Command. BG Marshall left the 29th ID (L) and took command of the 2-70 BN (Leader). He then returned to the 3rd Brigade, 29th ID (L) as the Executive Officer. When the Maryland National Guard stood up the 29th Joint Task Force Augmentation Team, he moved to this new unit as its operations officer. He then took command of the 29th ID (L) brigade as part of SFOR 10 in Bosnia. After his service in Bosnia, BG Marshall took command of the 29th Joint Task Force Augmentation Team and led the unit's deployment to Afghanistan in 2002-2003. While in Afghanistan, BG Marshall was the Director, Afghan National Army Reconstruction Team.
