Major General Robert M. Stonestreet was Assistant to the Commander, Air Force Space Command. He was the principal assistant on matters affecting Air National Guard forces and assigned personnel supporting operations in the space and cyberspace domains. This included over 6,000 Air National Guard personnel in over 50 Air Force Space Command gained units conducting Space Operations, Command and Control, Engineering and Installation, Combat Communications and Cyberspace Warfare/Information Operations. General Stonestreet kept the Director, Air National Guard abreast of critical Air Force Space Command issues.

General Stonestreet began his military career by enlisting in the North Carolina Air National Guard's 263rd Combat Communications Squadron located at Badin, North Carolina, in May 1970. He was commissioned in 1979 upon completion of the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science. General Stonestreet has held a variety of positions in communications and support areas. He has commanded at the squadron, group and vice wing commander levels and served as the dual hatted Air National Guard Assistant to the Chief, Warfighter Integration and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia. General Stonestreet is a deployed veteran of Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003. Prior to assuming his current position, General Stonestreet was the Chief of Staff, North Carolina Air National Guard.
