BRIGADIER GENERAL LODA R. MOORE

 

Brigadier General Loda R. Moore is the assistant adjutant general for Air, Headquarters, West Virginia Air National Guard, Charleston, West Virginia. The West Virginia Air National Guard has over 2,200 members and consists of two flying units, the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, WV and the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, WV. As Assistant Adjutant General for Air he is the principal advisor to The Adjutant General for all matters relating to the Air National Guard.

The General began his military career in 1972 as an electrician with the US Navy. He served aboard the USS Wacamaw and spent time in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. He progressed to the grade of E-4 prior to discharge. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1980 upon completion of the Academy of Military Science. He completed United States Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training at Williams AFB Arizona in 1981. When activated for the Persian Gulf War, he served as an Aircraft Commander for the 1630th Tactical Airlift Wing (Provisional in Southwest Asia). Other deployments include Operation Desert Shield/Storm (UAE), Phoenix/Coronet Oak Rotations (Panama), and a deployment to New Zealand. Colonel Moore is a Command Pilot, Functional Check Flight Pilot, Flight Examiner, and Instructor in the C-130 aircraft with over 4,500 military flying hours. He holds the civilian Airline Transport, Pilot, Commercial, Private Pilot ratings and is a Federal Aviation Administration instructor.
