Adjutant General - Air, California National Guard
Major General Mary J. Kight is Assistant Adjutant General - Air, California National Guard. As a member of the Governors Cabinet, she is responsible for the operation of the State Military Department which consists of the California Army and Air National Guard, State Military Reserve, and California Cadet Corps; totaling more than 23,000 personnel. The California National Guard has four flag officer heads of these components.
After graduating from California State University, Chico, General Kight enlisted in the active duty Air Force and received her commission in 1974. She had a successful career as a Personnel Officer at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Washington, followed by an assignment with the Department of the Army. In November 2004, General Kight accepted the position as the Assistant Adjutant General, Air Division, California Air National Guard, and in 2006 was assigned as the Assistant Adjutant General for the California Army and Air National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, Sacramento.
