BRIGADIER GENERAL MARTIN K. HOLLAND

 

Brigadier General Martin K. Holland became the chief of the staff, New Mexico Guard on July 1, 2005. Brigadier General Holland is the commander of Joint Task Force Zia, the New Mexico Guard component of Operation Jump Start and previously commanded the New Mexico National Guard response in Operation Katrina.

General Holland was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy in 1976. He was assigned to the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing flying A-7's and flew as a pilot and instructor pilot in the A-7. In 1980 Brigadier General Holland was assigned to Holloman AFB, New Mexico as an instructor pilot, and Standards and Evaluations Flight Examiner in the AT-38B. In 1983, Brigadier General Holland joined the New Mexico Air National Guard, flying the A-7D and F-16 and served in a number of positions including the Squadron Commander of the 188 Fighter Squadron. Brigadier General Holland has flown combat sorties over Bosnia, Northern Iraq and Southern Iraq and has participated in exercises and missions in Europe, Singapore, Panama, Chile, Alaska, Guam and Korea. He has flown Operation Noble Eagle sorties from Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, Atlantic City, New Jersey, Denver, Colorado and Riverside, California. Brigadier General Holland is a command pilot with over 4000 hours of fighter time.
