MAJOR GENERAL JAMES R. MASON

 

Commander, 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized)

Major General James R. Mason was assigned as the Commanding General, 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in November 2003. Major General Mason assumed command of the Division after commanding Task Force Eagle and Multinational Brigade (North), Stabilization Force 13, for the NATO peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Major General Mason received his commission through OCS in 1974. He is a graduate of the Infantry Basic and Armor Advanced Courses, the Command and General Staff College and other military schools including the Army War College. His assignments have included command of units at Platoon, Company, Battalion and Brigade levels. His staff assignments have included: Intelligence Officer; Logistics Officer; Operations and Training Officer; Adjutant; Chief of Plans, Operations and Support; Deputy Director of Personnel Kentucky Army National Guard; and Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver, 35th Infantry Division.
