MAJOR GENERAL MATTHEW L. KAMBIC

Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Ohio National Guard

Major General Matthew L. Kambic assumed the duties as the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Ohio National Guard on January 1, 2005. He establishes policies, priorities and oversight for the readiness of over 11,000 soldiers.

General Kambic began his military career in 1974 when he joined the United States Army after graduating from high school. He spent four years in the 1-66th Armor Battalion, 2d Armored Division as an armor crewman and left active duty as a Sergeant. General Kambic returned to Ohio to attend college and joined the Ohio Army National Guard as an enlisted soldier. He received his commission as an Armor Officer through the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at Youngstown State University in 1981. He has commanded at the detachment, troop, battalion and brigade levels while serving in staff assignments at the regimental, brigade and Joint Force Headquarters. Recent assignments include Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans and Commander, 37th Armored Brigade.
