Assistant Adjutant General, Iowa Army National Guard
Brigadier General Barry Griffin assumed duties as Assistant Adjutant General, Iowa Army National Guard on 24 October 1998. As Assistant Adjutant General, Iowa Army National Guard, he is responsible for mobilization and readiness of the Iowa Army National Guard.
The General's active military service began in 1970 when he was commissioned from ROTC in the US Army Reserve. He was ordered to active duty where he qualified as a Field Artillery Officer and released from active duty to the US Army Reserve. He joined the Iowa Army National Guard in 1971. Prior to this assignment Brigadier General Griffin served as Commander, Camp Dodge Training Site and most recently as Special Projects Officer. In that capacity, General Griffin was responsible for further developing the continuous improvement process in the Iowa National Guard.
