The Adjutant General, New Mexico
Major General Kenny C. Montoya assumed the duties as The Adjutant General, New Mexico National Guard, Santa Fe, New Mexico on April 26, 2003. As Adjutant General he commands the Army and Air National Guard. In addition to his federal duties, Commander, State Defense Force and serves as military Chief of Staff to the Governor and his principal advisor on military affairs. He is also president of the State Armory Board and provides oversight for the New Mexico Civil Air Patrol.
Major General Kenny C. Montoya was commissioned in 1983 after completing Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Prior to receiving his commission, General Montoya served as an enlisted member of Battery A, 4th Battalion 200th Air Defense Artillery, Raton, New Mexico. Since receiving his commission, General Montoya has served in a variety of positions, such as Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Battery Commander, Battalion Commander and Inspector General before his current assignment as Adjutant General of the New Mexico National Guard.
