The
Adjutant General, Missouri National Guard
Major General King E. Sidwell assumed duties as Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard, Jefferson City, Missouri, on 27 January 2005. As the Adjutant General he serves as the Chief Administrative Officer to the Governor (Commander in Chief) for command and control of the 10,450 Missouri Army and Air National Guard personnel. He ensures the Missouri National Guard is trained, equipped, and resourced for its dual state and federal mission. He is also responsible to the Governor for the State Emergency Management Agency and the Civil Air Patrol.
Major General Sidwell began his military career more than 33 years ago as an enlisted soldier and was commissioned on August 10, 1974, through the State Officer Candidate School at the Missouri Military Academy. He served in numerous assignments of increasing responsibility at the company, battalion and brigade level, culminating with his command of the Engineer Brigade, 35th Infantry Division. Upon completion of his command assignment, he assumed the position of Assistant Corps Engineer, 35th Engineer Brigade until transfer to the Retired Reserve. He was recalled from the Retired Reserve upon his appointment by the Governor to serve as the Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard.
