Brigadier General Paul C. Genereux, Jr. is Assistant Adjutant General - Army, New York National Guard. He is responsible for ensuring that New York Army National Guard units are prepared to mobilize in support of federal or state missions. General Genereux has placed a special emphasis on reintegrating our returning veterans to ensure a safe transition to civilian life and caring for families before, during and after mobilization.
General Genereux was direct commissioned into the Army Reserves as a first lieutenant in February 1978. Prior to his current position, he served as Commander, 42nd Infantry 'Rainbow' Division. The 42nd Infantry Division has units in 16 different states and the District of Columbia. As commander he was responsible for establishing goals, objectives and providing leadership and guidance to ensure the division's success in peacetime and in combat. General Genereux has held a wide variety of command and staff positions. He deployed in May 2004, serving as the Assistant Division Commander (Maneuver), 42nd Infantry Division. During this period, the 42nd Infantry Division was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Multinational Division, North Central and Task Force Liberty. Prior to becoming the Assistant Division Commander, 42nd Infantry Division (Maneuver) General Genereux served as Deputy Commander, 53rd Troop Command and Deputy Commander, Joint Task Force-3 in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in New York City.
