Adjutant General - Army Texas National Guard
Brigadier General William Goodwin assumed duties as the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Texas National Guard in May 2002. He serves as the principal advisor to the Adjutant General on all matters concerning the Texas Army National Guard.
Brigadier General Goodwin's military service currently spans over 35 years as a Field Artillery Officer. His expertise lies in the operations arena, where his initiatives as the Chief of Staff for the 49th Armored Division led numerous successful Annual Training rotations, benchmarking new equipment fielding and achieving multiple outstanding Army Training Evaluation Program ratings. He was instrumental in the development and design of the task organization which facilitated the SFOR7 train-up to Bosnia. General Goodwin's ability to resource the Task Force while maintaining overall state readiness was a benchmark for other Guard rotations to achieve. In addition to being the Assistant Adjutant General, he also serves as the Deputy Land Component Commander for the Texas Army National Guard. During 2003 he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Army National Guard Diversity Committee, reporting to the Director of The Army National Guard Washington D.C. He assumed the position of Chairman of the Committee in November 2004. General Goodwin has served in numerous command and staff positions, culminating in his current assignments as the Deputy Joint Forces Land Component Command and the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Texas Army and Air National Guard.
