Major General John T. Furlow assumed command of 36th Infantry Division, Texas Army National Guard, Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas in April 2006. General Furlow is also detailed as the Assistant Adjutant General-Army for the Texas Military Forces.
General Furlow entered military service in August 1977. His assignments include various command and staff positions within the 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas; the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea; the 5th Infantry Division at Fort Polk, Louisiana; Fort Gordon and Fort Benning, Georgia; the 71st First Troop Command and the 49th Armored Division of the Texas Army National Guard.
