Brigadier General David
L. Ladd is the assistant adjutant general for the Vermont Air National Guard, Camp
Johnson, Colchester, Vt. He directs all activities of the Vermont ANG for the adjutant
general and is responsible for the combat readiness of the flying unit and all supporting
elements. He advises the adjutant general on all matters relating to mission
accomplishments and unit performances. The general coordinates the budget, personnel and
long range policy issues affecting combat readiness and unit morale.
He began his military career in 1959 when he received a direct commission in the Vermont ANG. In January 1989, he was assigned as group commander, 158th Fighter Group, Vermont ANG until being selected for his present position in December 1992. He is a command pilot, having flown more than 7,000 hours; and flew 36 combat missions in the Palace Alert Program, Clarke AFB, Philippines, with 56 combat hours.
