BRIGADIER GENERAL RICHARD S. KENNEY

rsk.jpg (38062 bytes)Brigadier General Richard S. Kenny is the Assistant Adjutant General for Air, Vermont State National Guard Headquarters, Camp Johnson, Colchester, VT. He is responsible for developing, coordinating. Administering and advising on all policies, plans and programs affecting the more than 900 Vermont Air National Guard members.

The general began his military career in February 1963, receiving a direct commission to Second Lieutenant. He first earned navigator wings in 1964, and then pilot wings in 1966. Returning to the 158th Fighter Group in 1967 after Fighter Interceptor Training, he began his operational flying career as an air defense runway alert pilot. The general became an air technician in 1972 and held numerous positions before he retired in 1994. He served as a fighter squadron operations officer and commander, aircraft maintenance officer and squadron commander, deputy commander for maintenance, deputy commander of operations, logistics director, chief of safety and wing vice commander. He also served three and one half years at NGB as Division Chief for Safety, Security and Inspections at the ANG Support Center, Andrews AFB, Md. The general was reactivated in 1997 to be assigned to his present position. He is a command pilot with over 4500 flying hours.
