BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN E. SAYERS, JR.

 

Assistant Adjutant General, Virginia Army National Guard

Brigadier General John E. Sayers, Jr., is the Assistant Adjutant General for the Virginia Army National Guard. He is responsible for monitoring the activities and progress of all Joint Force Headquarters - Virginia staff sections. He is the senior personnel manager for the Virginia Army National Guard. He plans and conducts the statewide Command Inspection Program, and conducts staff visits to units on behalf of the Adjutant General.

The General's military career began in 1972 when he was commissioned as a second lieutenant of Infantry upon his graduation from the Virginia Military Institute at Lexington, Virginia. Prior to his current assignment as Assistant Adjutant General, Virginia Army National Guard, he served as the commander of the 183rd Regiment (Regional Training Institute), Blackstone, Virginia.
