Brigadier General Richard M. Blunt assumed the duties of Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command and Director Operations, J3, United States Forces Korea on 1 June 2002. In this assignment, BG Blunt is responsible for supporting the Combined Forces Command operational direction of ground, naval, air and special operations forces under the operational control of United States Forces Korea. He also monitors and assures the readiness of United States forces arriving in the Korean Theater of Operations, as well as interfacing with the Combined Rear Area Commander and the Second Republic of Korea Army on United States related issues.
The General's military service began in May of 1972 when he was commissioned from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Norwich University. His past assignments reflect his logistics and operations background. Prior to this assignment, Brigadier General Blunt served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Alaska Army National Guard and Commander, Task Force Falcon (Rear)/Commander United States Forces Macedonia in Support of Operation Joint Guardian.
