General Officer Biography

BRIGADIER GENERAL JERALD L. ENGELMAN

 

Brigadier General Jerald L. Engelman assumed the duties of the assistant adjutant general for Air of North Dakota on March 11th, 2002. Brigadier General Engelman also serves as the Air National Guard liaison to the commander. As the assistant adjutant general he is directly responsible to the adjutant general for the operational readiness of the North Dakota Air National Guard and the unit's ability to perform its federal and state missions. As the full time deputy adjutant general he is also responsible for the operational readiness of the joint force headquarters.

General Engelman earned his juris doctorate degree from the University of North Dakota in 1974. After 14 years, serving in various assignments, as a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard, he joined the Air National Guard in August of 1978. He has held assignments as judge advocate and United States Property and Fiscal Officer before his current assignment as assistant
