Assistant Adjutant General for Army, Maryland Army National Guard
Brigadier General Carole A. Briscoe is the Deputy Assistant Adjutant General for the Maryland Army National Guard, Baltimore, Maryland. She is responsible for oversight of the operations of the 70th Regiment (Leadership) at the Camp Fretterd Military Reservation, which conducts the Officer Candidate Program, trains new recruits in the 581st Readiness Battalion, conducts ANCOC, BNCOC, Pre-Command Courses and other special training courses as required. She was a founder for the Statewide Education Program and the development of the partnerships with state community colleges and universities. She grew the Distributive Training Technology Program from two distance learning centers to fifteen centers, strategically placed across the State to be available for emergency support if needed.
She has served over 25 years in the Maryland National Guard, sixteen of those years were in an active duty status as the S2/3 of the 104th Medical Battalion, 29th ID (L), S1 Division Support Command, 29th ID (L), Active Guard/Reserve Manager, Director of Personnel and Administration (DPA), Director of Human Resources, MDNG; which included the Family Readiness Program, EO, Employer Support to the Guard and Reserve, Occupational Health Program, Total Quality Leadership Program, State Education Program and the Distributive Training Technology Program, and Commander, 70th Regiment (Leadership). Her career began with the Guard as a Clinical Nurse in the 136th Combat Support Hospital. She is branch qualified in the Army Nurse Corps and the Medical Service Corps.
While serving as a traditional guard member, she was in charge of the emergency management section of the 136th Combat Support Hospital, served for three years as the primary medical support officer for the 1-175th Infantry Battalion and taught a number of Trauma Care Courses for guard members and to active duty medical personnel during annual training periods.
