Commander,
40th Infantry Division
Brigadier General Keith D. Jones serves as Commander, 40th Infantry Division, California Army National Guard. General Jones commands and controls the Division's headquarters and assigned subordinate commands. He also serves as the principal advisor to The Adjutant General and Army Commander, California Military Department on employment of the Division on both state and federal missions. In addition, General Jones is the Deputy Commander, California Army National Guard, serving as Senior Commander for Camp Roberts Maneuver Training Center (Heavy), Camp San Luis Obispo, and Joint Forces Training Base - Los Alamitos. As such, General Jones is responsible to the Commander, California Army National Guard for directing training and mobilization support and installation matters at California's three training installations.
General Jones was commissioned in 1973 through the California Military
Academy. Prior to receiving his commission, he served as an 11C Mortar man in
Company B, 2nd Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment. General Jones' experience
includes deploying as Commanding General, Task Force Falcon/North Atlantic
Treaty Organization (NATO) Forces, Multi-National Task Force (East), and Camp
Bondsteel, Kosovo in 2009.
