MAJOR GENERAL WILLIAM T. NESBITT

 

The Adjutant General, Georgia

Major General William T. Nesbitt is The Adjutant General, Georgia National Guard. In this position, he reports directly to the Governor with responsibility for providing command and control authority over the 14,000 personnel of the Georgia Department of Defense which includes the Georgia Army National Guard, the Georgia Air National Guard and the Georgia State Defense Force.

General Nesbitt is an infantry officer with over 40 years of service which include service in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in the Republic of Vietnam and a number of command and staff positions including Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Georgia Army National Guard and Deputy Commander, 48th Infantry Brigade. He has also served as Commander, Joint Task Force G8, Director of Manpower and Personnel-J1 and Director of Domestic Operations-J3, at National Guard Bureau as well as Director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security.
