BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES B. CRAWFORD III

 


Brigadier General James B. Crawford, III is the assistant adjutant general for Air also serving as commander of the West Virginia Air National Guard. The West Virginia Air National Guard has over 2,200 members, and consists of two C-130 flying units, the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, W.V. and the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, W.V. As assistant adjutant general for Air and commander he is a principal advisor to the adjutant general and provides command and control overall Air National Guard forces assigned to the state.

The general was commissioned in the West Virginia Air National Guard in 1969 and earned his pilot wings at Reese Air Force Base, Tex. in 1970. His aviation career includes more than 8,200 flying hours, primarily in the C-130. His distinguished service with the 167th Airlift Wing included assignment as operations officer and airlift squadron commander. He was previously assigned to state headquarters, West Virginia Air National Guard as the state air operations director.
