General Haught began his military career
as a four-year Army Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship student at the
University of Wyoming. He was recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate
and was commissioned in May 1979. General Haught served in various assignments
as an Army Air Defense Officer in Bitburg, West Germany; Fort Bliss, Texas and
Fort Lewis, Washington. In May 1989, he was commissioned as an Air Force Officer
serving in civil engineering and logistics fields with the 153rd Airlift Wing
and has been a key proponent in the establishment of the Air Mobility Command
active associate squadron in Cheyenne, Wyoming. General Haught is the Chair for
Federal Emergency Management Association regions Six and Eight of the Air
National Guard Strategic Planning System and serves on the steering committee
for Air National Guard Strategic Planning. He also serves as the Air Guard
General Officer Assistant to 20th Air Force. Prior to his current assignment,
General Haught served as Chief of Staff, Wyoming Air National Guard for over
seven years.
