BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES R. MARSHALL

 

Brigadier General James R. Marshall is the Air National Guard assistant to staff judge advocate, Headquarters Air Combat Command (ACC), Langley Air Force Base, Va. He serves as the principal advisor on Air National Guard legal services and operational law issues to the staff judge advocate for Air Combat Command. His responsibilities include training oversight and operational readiness of the 42 Air National Guard legal offices in the command. As a member of the judge advocate general's Air National Guard Council, he coordinates policies and programs for ACC-gained Air National Guard judge advocates and paralegals with the staff judge advocate for Air Combat Command and various directorates within the Air National Guard.

The general, entered the Air Force in 1972 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. After serving four years as an imagery intelligence officer, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., he was selected to attend law school on an Air Force sponsored program. Following graduation from law school in 1979, he was designated as a judge advocate. He has served in judge advocate positions in the Air Force, the Air Force Reserves, and as a staff judge advocate at the wing level in the Air National Guard. As an additional duty, he also served as the Air National Guard judge advocate liaison for 8th Air Force and 15th Air Force.
