Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, United States Air Forces in Europe
Major General Robert B. Bailey is the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, United States Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. He is responsible for advising the Commander of United States Air Forces Europe and the staff on all issues impacting the Air National Guard and provides administrative oversight of assigned Air National Guard personnel. He serves as advisor on Air National Guard forces trained to support United States Air Forces Europe after mobilization. He assists the United States Air Forces Europe Commander in development of plans for peacetime training missions to enhance Air National Guard capability for wartime employment.
General Bailey received a direct commission on 10 September 1971. Prior to receiving his commission, General Bailey served as an enlisted member of the 155th Consolidated Aircraft Squadron of the Nebraska Air National Guard. He has commanded an operations group and air refueling wing, and served as the Joint Force Headquarters-Nebraska Deputy Commander. General Bailey is a command pilot with more than 4,800 flying hours. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Assistant Adjutant General-Air, Nebraska and was instrumental in the organization of the 170th Group, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, as one of the first Air National Guard units fully integrated within an active duty wing.
