MAJOR GENERAL STEVEN R. MCCAMY

 

Major General Steven R. McCamy is the assistant adjutant general for Air, Missouri Air National Guard. He is directly responsible to the adjutant general of Missouri for the supervision and continuity of all units of the Missouri Air National Guard.

The general was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy in 1972 and attended Naval Flight Training at Beeville Naval Air Station, Texas, earning his pilot wings in 1973. He completed the United States Navy's Maintenance Officer School in 1973. During his service in the United States Navy, he flew fighters, predominately the A-6 aircraft, logging over 2,000 flying hours and accomplishing 480 carrier landings. He completed Navy Fighter Weapons School in 1975. General McCamy completed tours aboard the USS Independence and the USS Eisenhower. He separated from the United States Navy in January 1979.

General McCamy joined the 139th Airlift Wing, Rosecrans Memorial Airport, St. Joseph, Mo., in 1981. Soon after completing his check out in the C-130A, he was assigned to the initial cadre developing the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center (AATTC) program. He is a command pilot with over 4,000 flying hours.
