Major
General George F. Scoggins, Jr., is the assistant adjutant general also serving
as commander of the Washington Air National Guard. He is responsible for formulating,
developing and coordinating all policies, plans, and programs affecting the members
of the Air National Guard in the state of Washington.
In addition, General Scoggins serves as the Air National Guard assistant to the commander of Pacific Air Forces (PACAF). As the assistant, he serves as the principal advisor on Air National Guard forces assigned to the Pacific Command and assists the PACAF commander in development of plans, policies, and programs for peacetime training missions to strengthen Air National Guard capability for wartime deployment.
General Scoggins received his commission in the United States Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1969. His initial operational assignment was to the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. During this period, General Scoggins served as an F-4 aircraft commander flying missions over North Vietnam. After separating from the Air Force in 1978 he joined the Kansas Air National Guard where he served in a number of command positions. He has served in a Title 10 tour with the National Guard Bureau as commander of the ANG/AFRC Test Center in Tucson, AZ and in command positions in the Washington Air National Guard (WA ANG.) He is a command pilot with over 4,500 flying hours including over 270 combat hours.
