Marine Minute
Defense Media Activity - Marines
Jan. 22, 2018 | 1:00
I'm Lance Corporal Troy Saunders with your Marine Minute.
U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to Task Force Southwest returned home from a nine-month deployment to Helmand Province Afghanistan, January 21st, at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The Task Force is composed of roughly 300 personnel with II Marine Expeditionary Force, who deployed in the Spring of 2017 in order to train and advise key leaders within the Afghan security forces.
Also in the Corps,
Marines with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment conducted a Fire Support Coordination Exercise at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California, January 19th. The training gave Marines an opportunity to practice in a realistic environment, capable of operating as an integrated Marine Air Ground Task Force.
On this day in Marine Corps history in 1991,
The first serious ground-fighting of Operation Desert Storm broke out when Iraqi troops mounted an attack into Saudi Arabia.
That's it for your Marine Minute, for more news around the Marine Corps go to Marines.mil.
