Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Alabama
Brigadier General Paul D. Jacobs serves as the Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Joint Force Headquarters, Alabama National Guard. He is responsible for assisting Alabama's Adjutant General by developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic planning and plans execution, as well as providing associated policy guidance to subordinate Wings, a Combat Communications Group and an Intelligence Squadron within the Alabama Air National Guard. General Jacobs also serves in a dual-hat assignment as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama.
General Jacobs received his commission in October 1981 at the Academy of Military Science, Air National Guard Training and Education Center, McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee. Prior to commissioning, he began his military career in August 1979 when he enlisted into the 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group as an imagery interpretation specialist. General Jacobs' other assignments at the 187th Fighter Wing have included Intelligence Officer, Wing Executive Officer, Mission Support Flight Commander, Communications Flight Commander, Mission Support Group Deputy Commander, and Mission Support Group Commander. He has participated in two contingency operations including Operation PROVIDE COMFORT II where he served as an Intelligence Officer, Incirlik Airbase, Turkey and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM where he served as Deputy Commander, 332d Expeditionary Mission Support Group, Balad Airbase, Iraq. In 2012 General Jacobs was selected as the Director of Staff - Air, Joint Force Headquarters, Alabama National Guard and served in that capacity until April 2013.
