BRIGADIER GENERAL ANDREW E. SALAS

Brig. Gen. Andrew E. Salas served as  the Special Assistant to the Chief, National Guard Bureau for Diversity, Washington, D.C. He was responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and alignment of the National Guard Bureau's integrated global diversity and inclusion initiatives to achieve the highest state of military readiness of over 458,000 Soldiers, Airmen, and civilians.

General Salas enlisted in the New Mexico Air National Guard in 1980 and earned his commission from the Academy of Military Science in 1987. He has served in maintenance, support, joint counterdrug task force, political-military, mission support, equal opportunity and safety positions in N.M., NGB and Headquarters Air Force. He has commanded the communications flight, mission support flight, mission support group, and expeditionary mission support group (Iraq). General Salas has also served as the state of New Mexico's Adjutant General. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the ANG Assistant to the Commander, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.
