BRIGADIER GENERAL MICHAEL E. BOBECK

Brigadier General Michael E. Bobeck is the Deputy Director of Force Protection and Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (DDFPCWMD), J8. As the Deputy Director, General Bobeck is responsible for identifying, assessing, and prioritizing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense, Air and Missile Defense, Force Protection, and Critical Infrastructure Protection Joint capability needs. Additionally, he serves as the Director of the Joint Requirements Office for CBRN Defense, a Chairman's Controlled Activity, and the Chair of the Protection FCB. He also serves as a senior advisor for matters relating to Weapons of Mass Destruction for the J-8, Joint Staff, and advises the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as needed.

General Bobeck enlisted as an infantryman in 1979 and was commissioned in May 1983 through Canisius College Reserve Officers Training Corps. After completing flight school, he served in operational and aviation maintenance assignments on active duty from 1984-1997. He returned to the New York Army National Guard where he served as a full-time military technician as an Army Aviation Support Facility Commander and in 2001 as the State Aviation Officer. He has held numerous command positions to include Commander, D Troop 3/17th Cavalry, 10th Mountain Division, Commander, Company C, 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Commander, 1st Battalion, 142nd Aviation Regiment during major combat operations in 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Commander, 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade; and Commander, Operational Support Airlift Agency (OSAA) at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In March 2015, General Bobeck assumed the duties and responsibilities as the Deputy Director of Force Protection and Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction, J8.
