BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN M. PERRYMAN

 

PhotoCommander, 53rd Infantry Brigade (Separate)

Brigadier General John M. Perryman is Commander of the 53rd Infantry Brigade (Separate), Florida Army National Guard with Headquarters in Pinellas Park, FL. With over 3500 Soldiers, the 53rd Infantry Brigade (Separate) is the largest command within the Florida Army National Guard.

General Perryman enlisted in the Florida Army National Guard on October 12, 1976 attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class before appointment as an Infantry Second Lieutenant in April 1983. General Perryman has served in command and staff positions in MTOE units from platoon to brigade level as well as at State Joint Force Headquarters and Combined Joint Task Force level. General Perryman assumed command of the 53rd Infantry Brigade (Separate) on October 21, 2003. From 13 March 2005 to 04 July 2006 he concurrently commanded Combined Joint Task Phoenix IV while deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. He was promoted to Brigadier General on April 28, 2005.
