Key officers of the Wisconsin National Guard pay a goodwill visit to Nicaragua, hosted by Nicaragua's Ejercito (defense force). Wisconsin has a longstanding sister-state relationship with Nicaragua, and the Wisconsin National Guard is paired with the Nicaraguan Ejercito in the National Guard State Partnership Program.

NJ celebrates 15 years with Albania

Rieth (left), the Adjutant General of New Jersey and His Excellency Mr. Gazmend Oketa (right), minister of defense for the republic of Albania, cut a special anniversary cake commemorating the 15-year partnership between New Jersey and the Republic of Albania in December. Mr. Oketa's visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of his nation's participation in the State Partnership Program with the New Jersey National Guard. This week, Albania achieved its long-standing goal of membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

General Vasyl Kvashuk, director of the Ukrainian Army's Civil Protection Department, addresses Brig. Gen. William H. Wade II, adjutant general of the California National Guard, and other key leadership on Nov. 12, 2008, at the Joint Force Headquarters in Sacramento. The Urkainian team led by Kvashuk was in California to participate in Vigilant Guard '09, the National Guard's weeklong disaster-response exercise. Kvashuk discussed Ukraine's response to the July 2008 floods that decimated lives and homes in Western Ukraine.
